UK Kittyhawk and American p40F#353

S

They go the same speed with the 500lb bomb (310mph) as they do without the bomb.

It could effect things like climb/roll/acceleration but not effect top speed by much. We need data from the windtunnel tool, it would be awesome if hatch gets time to release the performance specs of all the planes so that we may see them (just like pilots in real life were able to do)

Without the windtunnel tool data, we as players cant confirm if the bomb is modelled properly. The margin of error will be too high considering the bomb may only effect the top speed by 1-5km

Yea they feel much more sluggish than the H87 (p40F) without a bomb.

I remember reading that the P51B was 10-15 mph faster than the D model due to the lighter weight of only 4 50 cal. I’m sure a 500 pound bomb dragging underneath a fighter would effect top speed by at least 20 mph. Drag has much more effect on top speed than simple weight.

Incidentally, on all the bombers in game that have bay doors, open doors do not effect top speed either, which it whould. Neither does having gunner postions open as in the 110, A20, Boston, etc

Yea I get that the top speed wouldn’t change that much but it just feels a lot more sluggish than the H87 without the bomb. It should be the same plane (p40f) Makes me think it’s not recognizing the bomb drop?

@2km alt top speed increases by a tad over 4mph after you drop the bomb.

Also… Going from memory so maybe right maybe not. Best I recall the kittyhawk.p40d is not a reworked h81 model but completely new built model as there wasc enough actual difference in the fusalage that it was simpler to build from scratch. I think the p40d has a shorter nose and larger raditor. And I think the CoG is a slight bit farther back than the B model. Again that’s just best as memory serves and that memory lives in a 70 year old brain so take withy a grain of salt ;)
