Tank killing by every allied plane.#714

D

It seems that every ∗∗∗∗∗∗ plane in the allied arsenal can now kill all axis tanks on a first pass. Forget tank busting places, we are losing Tigers and Panthers to ordinary mg from all allied planes whether we are buttoned up or not.
I fly axis and can kill dacs, pans and a13s with some planes but almost never higher tier tanks. I have to use dedicated tank buster planes like the ju87 to kill enemy tanks and even then it’s often difficult to get the kill.
Either give the axis the same ability or redo the the allied planes Armour peircing mg rounds.
The 109G carries a good cannon but even that will struggle to burn a standard sherman engine and almost never blows a tank up!
Please get more CRS playing axis and they will see how things seem to change over time. Earlier campaigns the slaughter of axis armour by non specialist planes was a rare phenomenon.

Not sure if this is a bug. The roof is like 14mm and it takes some skill to strafe them. Cant tanks tow AAA guns now?
The 109f2 can kill some tanks. The 109G is HE I believe. I do not know enough about the armor values to be able to comment though.

Its highly annoying as a tank you cant do anything about it other than try and turn the tank to try and get them to hit your front or use a berm to change the angle, unfortunately the RL numbers make it possible for the 50 cals to go though the top amour on every axis tank when hit near on flat, but its unlikely anyone in RL would have done what’s required to make it work due to the overriding need to not die or take risks. I think it did die off for a bit but i can’t help but think the reduction in G effects on the wings a few patches ago as enabled this to be done again and as more people show how its done with very little limit to supply in the air the risk is just not there. The biggest problem in my opinion is there are just a lack of players, there is no way someone would do this if the game world was populated more both in the air and with players using AAA, we have neither so issues like this are more pronounced.

I am unsure what the 1.38.1.0 patch described as “Aircraft structural failure limits have received a safety factor increase” does exactly but even prior to that patch we were still able to fly and strafe in the same manner with zero risk of breaking our wings. (Side note: After many hours of testing we had zero issues flying any planes with the original G force limits, it was 100% a skill issue)

I do not know enough about the numbers/ballistics to really be able to comment further. I also shouldn’t have said the roof was 14mm because I did not fact check that either. Please disregard

Maybe it was purely just less people flying in general due to boycot, hard to know and purely “feels”. Panther was 16mm turret roof and engine deck, P4 10mm that was upped on J to 25mm, Stug was 11mm roof and 16 engine deck, Tiger was 25mm for both, was later upped to 40mm. My guess at later war upgrades was likely due to Artillery, Bombs or Rocket attack rather than HMG fire.

“Earlier campaigns the slaughter of axis armour by non specialist planes was a rare phenomenon” that just shows how allied pilots dont want to cas / know its possible. brownings penetrating tanks roofs is historical accurate. Tigers can be killed only with p39 37mm cannon with closed commanders hatch, brownings kill everything except tiger with closed hatch. If you have video of closed tiger getting killed by browning - send the video
