Frame rate bug? During gameplay and after, even at desktop.#783

The dozen or so instances of this have happened while flying and while ground fighting. The screen appears to completely lock up then after 3 seconds or so, it renders another frame then freezes and so on until I die or bail out and quit to the desktop. This is the crazy part…the frame rate freezing continues unto the Windows 11 desktop and will not release until I log out of my windows account or reboot the PC. The whole time that in game it’s freezing and locking up, sound continues on normally while I’m getting plinked by enemy aircraft or shot if playing ground attack. In the video (

Interestingly, the last time I played I think I made it through about 30-40 minutes without a freeze and logged before it started again. Let me know if you’d need me to run a diagnostics tool or whatever to help gather data for this bug.

Try turning off vsync in game settings and restarting game and see if that solves it – maybe there will be screen tearing but at least see if it solves the freezing that also occurs afterwards in windows so we can figure out next step

Forgot to mention; my advice was based off nicenick having the same problem and this is how we solved it. The game causing windows to lag even after being closed is quite extraordinary which is why I remembered this issue.

–And believe it or not. I have a beefy PC, and i usualky encounter quite a bit of CTDs. More so when i multi-account. I still haven’t found the cause of it. But i also believe it may be my display settings with dual monitors.

–Another thing you could try is installing WWIIOL on a SSD so it runs faster, keep it off of your bootable drive.

–A fresh install of the game might fix any issues, but refer back to try installing it on a SSD.

So your suggestion seems to have worked so far lovewing. Disabled vsync and restarted then was able to play for about a half hour without any issues. I’ll try again tomorrow for longer and confirm that was it. Thanks to all who offered some suggestions, much appreciated! S!

If you notice tearing in game (if you dont know what tearing is; it’d be like youre in game flying and suddenly a tear happens horizontally across the screen where the top half will show the game and the bottom half will show the game but by a slight delay then will go back to normal). Its very noticeable if it happens.
If that happens then just write here and we will fix it
