1.39.0.0 - [Open Beta] - Town not persistent when clicking other Town/FB as Target during mission creation#827

S

To be clear, I’m not talking about when you open up a map and then click a town to be able to see CPs and ABs.

What I’m referring to is during mission creation. I play Allied in this case.

I click “Create Mission”.

In this example, I am trying to create a mission to set BoZ-Roosendaal FB as my target, so I can do FB bust.

I set BoZ-Gorisboek Depot as my Origin, because that’s the closest I can use to reach FB as short as possible.

I then set BoZ-Roosendaal as my Target.

That is where the problem occurs. BoZ’s CPs and AB disappear from the map. Even though I set everything correctly, what if I changed my mind and wanted to change to BoZ AB as my Origin instead of NCP (BoZ-Gorisboek Depot), just so I could get more people to use CEs for FB bust?

This needs to change so that if a CP or an AB is my Origin, then the town that CP/AB belongs to should be persistent on the map during mission creation, so if I change my mind, I can just change CP/AB without having to click that Town again. Otherwise it’ll be my Target too, and I have to start the process again.

Here’s the link for pics for the above: https://postimg.cc/gallery/25CNNr1

The same logic is also true for when a Town has no FB, such as from Revin to Haybes which has no FB. As soon as I click Haybes as my Target, Revin’s CPs and AB disappear from the map. Link for a pic on this: https://postimg.cc/Pp5qLSrV

The same logic is also true even if the Allied Town has a FB. I click Allied Town as my Origin, and I click Axis Town as my Target, the Allied Town’s CPs and AB(s) will disappear from the map. Link for a pic on this: https://postimg.cc/G9BcZ8BG

However, if I have an Allied FB and I set it as my Origin, and I am going to attack an Axis Town, that Axis Town will be my Target. The Allied town that an Allied FB belongs to is persistent on the map during the mission creation. So no issue on that part. Link for a pic on this: https://postimg.cc/0zkh1FWk

Solution: Re-click the originating town label, double click the new origin point, then single click the target again.

Right?

Yes, that solves the problem. But it wasn’t what I was trying to highlight, especially after selecting your Origin and Target, then the town where your Origin came from basically disappeared in terms of CPs and ABs. That could be a nuisance if you had to go through the same process again if you changed your mind and wanted to change your Origin. CPs and ABs not disappearing would’ve solved this issue as it saved you a couple of clicks.

The complexity it could otherwise generate doesn’t justify the off-chance of a nuisance, if that makes sense. Just adapt and be smart about how you approach it from the outset. Otherwise sure, for the error of selecting the wrong origin or a preference change, the consequence is a couple of extra clicks. Minor. Ty for your suggestion none the less.

It’ll be a big hassle for older vets, especially if you want them to get used to the new UI. Or let’s say new players are getting confident, and they want to create a new mission. This could be a hurdle depending on how much they want to get to the next step ASAP. However, if you insist, then I’ll digress.
